Pre-treat your newly stacked logs
to provide short term protection
Don’t let your naked logs suffer from indecent exposure!
Your brand new log home has just been stacked and sometimes there are circumstances which may prevent you from applying the finish coats right away. Whether it is a matter of construction delays, the weather has turned uncooperative, or any number of obstacles, it’s just not wise to let those pristine logs sit unprotected from the damaging effects of exposure to the elements.
In this case, it is recommended to apply the Log Yard treatment which will reduce unwanted discoloration of the logs from weather exposure. This short term wood protectant will also help reduce surface checking of the logs.
- Prior to application, the surface should be free from dirt, discoloration, loose fibers and cambium layer.
- Apply one saturating coat of the Log Yard Treatment with a low-pressure garden pump sprayer. Allow the product to absorb and then brush out any runs or drips.
- Allow 16 hours for full dry. Apply final finish coats within 3-5 months.
Note: When you are ready to apply finishes, follow the preparation procedures for new wood-cleaning.
